Job Description

OneCart is looking to hire an IT Support Technician who will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimising computer systems, programs, and networks to ensure maximum functionality. This role also involves training users on safe and effective use of IT infrastructure and internal systems/applications.

The successful candidate will have solid technical expertise in hardware, software, operating systems, and business applications, coupled with strong troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The ultimate goal is to build and maintain efficient computer systems while providing reliable support to internal teams.

IT Support & Maintenance

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.).
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications and functions according to specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer hardware (HDDs, keyboards, mice, etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Develop and maintain local networks to optimise performance.
  • Ensure the security and privacy of networks, data, and computer systems.
  • Perform regular system upgrades and maintenance without disrupting workflow.

Troubleshooting & User Support

  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on new software and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems through repair, replacement, or debugging.
  • Offer internal and external user support, including in-house software applications.
  • Maintain detailed records/logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance schedules.
  • Identify and escalate computer or network equipment shortages, placing orders when needed.
  • Ensure monitoring devices and tools are functioning optimally.

Technical Systems & Tools

  • Provide support for VOIP systems and integrations.
  • Leverage IT service management tools (Freshdesk, ManageEngine, Zendesk, etc.).
  • Support Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace applications.
  • Work with SQL where required (beneficial).
  • Contribute to system efficiency by identifying areas for automation and improvement.

Governance & Best Practices

  • Ensure adherence to IT security standards and data privacy principles.
  • Follow company IT policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Support internal audits and IT reporting requirements.

People & Collaboration

  • Train and guide users on IT best practices and safe system usage.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime.
  • Actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Remain flexible and willing to work shifts where required.

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant IT field.
  • 2–3 years of proven experience as an IT/Support Technician or in a similar role.
  • Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace experience.
  • Knowledge of ITSM tools (Freshdesk, ManageEngine, Zendesk, etc.).
  • VOIP experience essential.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) is advantageous.
  • SQL experience will be beneficial.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Flexible and able to work shifts.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
